The Sunflower

Once the seed has been planted
you begin to see who I truly am.
It is just a matter of time before I open.

At a glance I look quiet and shy,
slowly growing at my own pace.
Inside, I cannot wait to open up.

Like a budding flower
I can easily be mistaken for a weed.
Before you get to know me, I keep to myself.

Fully blossomed, you can see
that I am confident and accepting.
Aware of who I truly am, I stand tall.
