A Man I Never Knew

Standing there on a chilly, fall day,
We remember a man who passed away.

Although I never got to meet him,
His story was the reason for mine to begin.

All I know about him is stories of the past
And how his children wished it could last.

As I stare at her, looking at her face,
She longs for the man whom she once embraced.

One day she knows, she’ll see him again,
The man she called her husband and her friend.

Standing there for a man I never knew,
I have a feeling that he knows me too.
