I’ve Got My Eyes on the Path

Down the road, the highway, the path,
I see the other end,
so far away but so close,
just keep on walking around that bend
I’ve got my eyes on the path.

On gravel, on cement, on flagstones,
my feet are walking on the ground.
I’ve gone a long time already,
need to keep my strength all around,
I’ve got my feet on the path.

In the air, the steam, the cold,
my arms are swinging back and forth,
getting tired but I keep on going,
just need to keep heading north.
I’ve got my arms on the path.

Below the birds, the sky, the sun,
my ears hear sweet sounds,
almost to the finish line.
this end will give me all the queen’s crowns,
I’ve got my ears on the path.

Above the flowers, the grass, the dirt,
my nose smells the sweet outside.
I have the confidence that I’ll make it.
This is a very long self-ride.
I’ve got my nose on the path.

To the finish line, the end, the conclusion,
I have lived out my own life.
It’s been a great one, but I know I have to go,
for, no one lives forever.
This path is my path, and it has ended.
