My Sleeping Place

It is
A soporific shield,
That guards against aches and pains.
A somniferous sword,
That fends off wave after wave of weariness.
A loyal vassal,
That offers its entire existence in service to a single individual—me.

It is
As white and pure as cane sugar,
Sweetening even the most unsavory situation.
As soft as the underside of a goose,
Smoothing out even the roughest edges.
It is Shakespeare’s proverbial
“Balm of hurt minds, chief nourisher in life’s feast.”
