Perception

As vivid as I could remember
In mid to late September.

I was walking through the center
Selling gold cards with team members.

It was fun in the beginning
Making earnings, counting winnings,

Selling a card here or there,
Making enough money to spare,

We were met with scorn so unbridled
It left us standing idle

One lady snatched her purse
And then stated to curse

That was the one that felt the worst
Inside it really hurt

The way she put up defenses
Shouting words that were relentless,

Almost cutting into my skin
Leaving me so weak I could be knocked over by the wind.

She stormed away without a glance
Never giving us a chance,

Or even asking a reason
The way we looked was all she needed.
