An Overrated Cherub

It comes this time every year
The day of infatuation and love
But sadly sometimes ends in heartbreak or in a tear
For love is not always carried on the wings of a simplistic dove

Candy, chocolate, roses, and conversation hearts
Are supposed to show one’s true affection
But personally I don’t think Cupid’s red, heart - shaped darts
Have any say on a couple’s real connection

So why put your relationship under pressure
For a fat baby with an arrow?
At the end of the day love is a measure
As simple as a soaring sparrow

It’s about honesty, chemistry, caring and desire
Not how much you can whip together on a thin wire
