The Crystal and the Brass

This crystal necklace is a beauty.
As I gaze into the pendant
I can see my smiling self.
A million of me
staring back into my eyes.

It’s funny how some things multiply
you while others divide.

Like the brass door knob
on my kitchen door.
As I draw closer, my reflection shrinks.
My face dives in,
my two eyes become one.
And soon I disappear too
in a wisp of hair.

Just like that with no
warning or second chances.
