Catherine Sibert

Eastern Standard Time

I’ve lost something.

Could you help me find it, please?

It was right there,

And then it wasn’t anymore.

It’s very important, you see.

I need it to sleep at night,

And to wake up in the morning.

I need it for reading

And writing

And running

And jumping

And dancing

And skipping

And eating

And drinking

I need it for everything,

Where could it be?

It’s not under the bed,

Or deep in the closet.

My cats haven’t stolen it,

Like they do with my socks.

I’ve found plenty of those,

But I still can’t find it.

Everything’s off

It’s too early, too late.

It’ll return, I know it will.

I don’t know where it went,

That missing hour

But if you find it,

I’d like it back.
