Oliver Panak The Dream Fairy
He comes to you in the depths of night, drifting through the air like a buzzard;
With wavy wings of silk, beating wildly at intangible speed.
His frivolous fairy feet step with a soft, gentle touch,
As he soundlessly creeps into your bedroom with ill forebodings.
His words are poison; pure persuasion.
He picks them meticulously.
He smuggles fantasy into your thoughts
As you so easily give into these false hopes.
He weaves through reality,
Sewing illusions of conquests and glory into a doomed soldier’s head;
Planting visions of jewels and gold into a poor scavenger’s mind;
Pressing dreams of power and stature upon an imprisoned slave.
He sweeps you off the ground like dust,
Far away from reality.
He carries you off into your dreams.
He gives you wishes that will never be realized.
He is the Dream Fairy.
