Gravity

Painting in an art room is like water dripping from a faucet
Drip, drip, drip
Every time a water droplet falls onto the cool metal surface of the sink
It explodes a new pattern
Water is free to construct anything it wants – anything it feels
Each stroke is another drop forming at the water spigot
Plummeting towards the smooth canvas below

Painting on a summer’s day is like water forming on the outside of a glass
Ice-cold liquid inside – surrounded by a protective shield against the hot air
The brush makes one stroke along the edge
Water beads glide down the slide into the little pool at the bottom
New pathways all around – two joining to make one

Painting is like water rushing
Anywhere down a hill
Into a small lagoon
