Summer Today

It’s winter in Lexington.
The cold is outside with the bright snow.
Snow is coming down, silently covering the ground.
Stinging my face, the wind blows it around.

Walking outside at the coldest time of day,
Early morning, sky of white and grey.
I see my breath in front of me,
As always when it’s 20 degrees.

It should be summer, summer today.
I hate the snow and ice.
The long days of summer when it's 80 degrees,
I wish it were summer, summer today.
