A Girl’s Bubble

On a hot, sunny day,
a Korean Girl came
to the United States,
blowing a bubble,
her American dream

The Girl’s bubble
left her mouth,
knowing nothing
of where to go

Wandering around
the Girl’s head,
giving the Girl
a dizzy whirl,
the bubble still
knew nothing
of where to go

Seeing others’ bubbles
pop around her head,
the Girl,
who was now scared,
started blowing
her little,
yet firm bubble
above her head
as much as possible

As the bubble floated
higher and higher in the sky,
gradually
it would come to grow
rapidly

Now the giant bubble
might seem so feeble,
threatening the Girl
that it might pop,
and leave her forever

Now the huge bubble
might seem so far away,
scaring the Girl
that it might be gone,
and leave her forever

But the Girl
never cried

In spite of
the great anxiety
she never cried

She saw it

There she saw
her feeble yet giant bubble
reflecting the bright sunshine
all over its
round body

There she saw
her American Dream
shining in the sky
with the seven colors of rainbow,
like a promise from God
