Julia Gordon

Lights, Curtains, Action!

The curtains opened
She was ready to go
She had her lines memorized
And had a calm pulse beating slow
The lights shone down in every direction from above
She knew the people in the front row were her family whom she loved
Soft music from the pit slowly drifted through the room
She could feel her heart beating even through her costume
This was it she thought as she spoke her first line
And suddenly the goose bumps disappeared from her spine
The audience applauded after every scene
She couldn't help but smile
It was all like a dream
