Juliet Eyraud A Day at the CircusThe clown cruises through the hysterical crowd,
with a rosy red nose, horn in hand.
The laughter of viewers is awfully loud,
and the smiles exuberant and grand.
As they turn their attention to the azure sky,
a young girl steps on a trapeze,
and travels along the thin string up so high,
with smoothness, pure grace and ease.
Then enters a lion along with a ring,
which burns with a giant orange flame.
With one facile leap by the jungle's own king,
its act puts the others to shame.
This last golden beast surely steals the whole show,
and yields from the audience a wild 'standing O'.
