Miranda Strominger

Polaroid (The Land Camera)

I lift the cover of the camera,
revealing the charming stripe
of rainbow, bring the scope to
one eye and close the other as
fleeting children in animated
sport gather in my view just
left of what will be when I push
the anxious red trigger and a
trembling groan heralds the
deposit of a single incipient
sheet                          so
we            wait            to
see           what         was.
